Description

The Humanities Institute and the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications Film-Video and Media Studies Department at Penn State seek applicants for a full-time, fixed-term instructor position beginning fall 2019. Successful applicants will have teaching and/or professional experience in film/video production, including screenwriting, editing, camera and sound. Responsibilities will include instruction of a film-video course in the College of Communications, as well as courses associated with the Humanities Institute’s new “Public Humanities Fellows Program.” This program, funded by a grant from the Andrew Mellon Foundation, aims to train students in research and production of publicly accessible media centering on humanities topics and related social issues. The successful applicant will be a key member of the HI team in establishing the curriculum for and co-teaching an Intro to Public Humanities class at the center of the Program, as well as supervision of student group work and production of projects coming out of the Intro class. A Master’s degree or appropriate terminal degree, documentary film-making and classroom teaching experience are preferred. The position is renewable for at least three years (and beyond, pending funding).
