The Office of Information Security (OIS) is seeking applications for a Cyber Security Systems Engineer that will work as part of the Consulting and Architecture team. Primary duties for this position include working with stakeholders to provide proactive guidance, suggestions, and solutions for securing information systems and application; designing secure networks in compliance with policy and standards; guiding system owners through the authority to operate phases; serving as a subject matter expert on secure network/system design and implementation; and engaging the university community and being an advocate for cybersecurity balanced with usability. This person will also work closely with other areas of OIS to provide security implementation guidance for compliance with regulations including PCI and HIPAA. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Preferred experience with security frameworks including NIST 800-53, 800-171; implementing security in cloud computing environments including AWS and Azure experience developing and implementing security principles; and experience consulting and engineering utilizing security best practices. Required Qualifications: Demonstrated experience hardening Windows, MacOS and Linux systems; the ability to work as part of a team and work independently with self-accountability on projects; experience implementing and working with next-gen firewall technologies. This position also requires exceptional communication and presentation skills with diverse audiences as well as strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
