Ryan Family Student Center - Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education


The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) is looking for a dynamic candidate to serve as the Director of Student Engagement, leading efforts to engage undergraduate students in meaningful and intentional out-of-classroom learning and professional-development experiences. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and will serve as a critical member of the Ryan Family Student Center, with strong ties to all five EMS departments. The successful candidate will help set the vision for and implement the newly structured EMS Academy of Global Experience, a college program designed to honor students who excel both in academics and in beyond-the-classroom experiences. They will approach engaged scholarship as part of the overall educational program and help students develop engagement plans that consider a holistic view of their university experience. They will establish strong relationships with university-level activities around engaged scholarship and with community and industry partners. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: developing programming and events to encourage meaningful student engagement; increasing the collaboration and working relationships between the college and university-wide offices; working collaboratively with departments to match students to opportunities; developing new engagement opportunities with community and industry partners; serving as a liaison to Global Programs; working with the EMS Giles Writer-In-Residence to help students communicate their engagement experiences; working with the EMS Associate Dean for Educational Equity to ensure our programs are accessible to all EMS students; serving as the faculty advisor for the EMS Student Council; and leading assessment of outcomes served by student engagement. The candidate also will be expected to teach one section of EMS First-Year Seminar. This job will be filled as a three-year 40-week fixed-term faculty position, with salary and rank depending upon the successful candidate`s competencies, education, and experience, and with excellent possibility of renewal.
