The Prabhu laboratory at the Pennsylvania State University in the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences is seeking applications for an Assistant Research Professor with experience in selenium biology, selenoproteins, and cancer (leukemia) research. The successful candidate will oversee daily laboratory operations. In addition, the person selected will lead laboratory analyses in selenoproteins in leukemia, leukemia stem cells research and on-going clinical trials, selenium in resolution of inflammation in various models of stress. The candidate must be familiar with tools critical in selenoprotein biology, redox signaling, murine leukemia models, hematopoiesis, stem cell biology, cell culture, and applicants would ideally have additional experience in analytical mass spectrometry related fields, and Next generation sequencing, although not required. Ideal candidates should be hard working and self-motivated, enjoy working in a team environment, and have excellent communication skills. Additional experience with human and animal research ethics applications, mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students, and ordering/invoicing is also preferred. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in biology/pharmacology/cancer biology/biochemistry, with relevant post-doctoral experience in any of the above-mentioned areas, with salary commensurate with appointment and experience.
