The Graduate School is seeking three Doctoral level students from Penn State to serve as Co-Directors, in the Office of Graduate Equity Programs (OGEEP), for the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP). Co-Directors work closely with the OGEEP Assistant Director but report directly to the OGEEP Assistant Dean and will periodically meet with the Senior OGEEP staff to provide updates and review all SROP activities throughout the program. Co-Directors are responsible for the overall implementation of the 2019 SROP experience. Specific tasks include planning and overseeing SROP professional development and academic support activities, providing supervision for undergraduate SROP participants, developing/maintaining collaborative working relationships with Faculty Mentors and Multicultural Directors, and assisting the OGEEP staff with tasks as needed. Qualified applicants will have prior experience working with undergraduates in an advising/counseling capacity; have a record of conducting research within their field; and have a proven history of working collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff. Qualified applicants should also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and have an interest in and ability to organize professional development events including a research symposium. Co-Directors schedules will be coordinated with the OGEEP staff to include office and program hours. This Summer’s SROP will from June 1 – July 27, 2019. Planning for the program occurs in May and Co-Directors appointments are from May 20 - August 2, 2019.
