Description

The Ryan Family Student Center (RFSC) in the Office of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic professional to provide administrative support to the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences’ undergraduate academic advising, recruitment and engagement activities. The RFSC is the home for undergraduate activities in the College—academic advising and tutoring, a computer lab and café, studying and collaborating—it is a busy and exciting place. This position will serve as the front desk receptionist. Duties include scheduling advising appointments; answering phones; handling inquiries from parents, prospective students, and current students; assisting with office communications and newsletters; arranging visits for prospective students and their families; and assisting with college recruitment, retention, and advising activities as well as other undergraduate programs. Applicant will be responsible for opening the Student Center and College Museum and maintaining office and café area supplies. Proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable software suite required; familiarity with CampusNexus, LionPATH and Starfish systems ideal. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills, flexibility in handling and prioritizing multiple tasks, and a strong commitment to teamwork and inclusiveness are essential. As the front desk receptionist, this employee will be expected to follow Penn State’s standard 40-hour work schedule from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
