The College of Agricultural Sciences—Penn State Extension, Wyoming County, seeks to hire a 4-H Summer Assistant. The 4-H Summer Assistant will plan, implement, and evaluate 4-H events, programs, and projects with youth in traditional 4-H Program settings. In addition, the Summer Assistant will provide support at traditional 4-H events by recording registration, conducting workshops, assisting with the management of shows and contests, and completing other tasks as assigned. This position requires excellent organizational and time management skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to plan and teach activities and educational programs. Must be a team player who can work with diverse youth and adults. The 4-H Summer Assistant works under the supervision of the Wyoming County 4-H Educator. This is a paid position with up to 35 work-hours a week from Mid-May through October (with some flexibility depending upon availability of the applicant). Preference will be given to candidates with undergraduate coursework in agriculture, education, the sciences, or other related fields. PHEAA eligible preferred. Prior experience with the 4-H Program is preferred. This position requires the applicant to operate a motor vehicle as part of the job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks to work with minors. Applicant must also be willing to work flexible hours. Salary: $8.00/hour.
