A research technician position is immediately available in the He lab at Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology to study cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of vascular permeability in diseased animal models. The commonly used techniques are flow cytometry, western blot, PCR, single vessel perfusion and vessel dissection in combination with fluorescence microscopy and electron microscopy. The research technician will participate in NIH-funded research projects, provide support to the PI and postdoctoral fellows in conducting experiments, manage lab supplies and animal care including breeding and genotyping, and document research protocols. This position requires good verbal, writing, and organization skills, and being able to follow instructions and actively contribute to the completion of team goals and assigned tasks. Individuals who are highly motivated, eager and capable to learn new techniques, or have experience in flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and animal handling are encouraged to apply. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed term appointment funded one year from date of hire with the possibility of reappointment.
