The Special Education Program at Penn State is seeking a qualified individual to teach courses in both residence undergraduate and graduate programs as well as an online graduate program in the 2019-2020 academic year starting August 2019. The new fixed-term faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in special education. Responsibilities to include: teaching 8 courses per year (4-Fall and 4-spring semester) in both undergraduate and graduate programs in special education, advising incoming students in the online SPLED program; attend program and department meetings, and engage professionally to strengthen the links between research and practice. This position requires an earned doctorate in Special Education, minimum of two years’ teaching experience with individuals with disabilities, prior research experience and a record of scholarly productivity, evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching, experience with Canvas, and evidence of a commitment to working collegially and with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Desirable qualifications include evidence of effective experience teaching undergraduate or graduate resident and/or online courses such as: Introduction to Special Education (learning characteristics and current law) and instructional methods for students with disabilities (Mathematics and/or Literacy) and Instruction, and expertise in curriculum-based measurement practices, explicit instruction.
