The Center for Language Science (CLS; is seeking a highly skilled professional to fill the position of Administrative Assistant. The Assistant will work jointly with members of the CLS community and the NSF PIRE (Partnerships for International Research and Education; team and will report to the CLS directors. The selected individual will perform most work activities in a large volume, fast paced, complex, detailed, and multifaceted environment. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and maintaining office management procedures and policies, serving as central support for all members of the CLS community, providing building directions to visitors and participants in research studies, processing telephone communications, and acting on routine requests. As part of the CLS, team the Assistant will provide assistance for visitors, presentation support, meeting preparation, and facility coordination. The Administrative Assistant will assist in the preparation and submission of research proposals, IRB renewals, and periodic reports; develop, design and produce publications; arrange staff and committee meetings; respond to internal/external requests for materials and information; type and compose correspondence; and provide liaison support to the Department of Psychology. Other features of the job include coordinating arrangements and related activities for the CLS colloquium series (, conferences, workshops, and other activities including travel, lodging, and meals; assisting international visitors with arrangements and itineraries; and preparing honorariums and travel details for invited guests. The Assistant is in charge of organizing and maintaining mailing lists, files, and reports; scheduling meetings, taking and transcribing CLS meeting minutes and monitoring calendars; and implementing special projects as requested. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
