Description

The Data Analyst would be responsible for organizing financial data from various systems utilized by the College of Medicine and developing ways to more efficiently report on this data. In addition to identifying, organizing and reporting on financial measures, analyst will be required to develop methods of presenting results so that they are logical to all levels of financial literacy, as well as make recommendations to senior leadership. This position will be analyzing current sources of data, developing consistent ways of reporting and streamlining the data packets to insure consistent and accurate reporting; therefore, this position requires confident and clear understandings of finance and accounting, as well as the willingness to learn about the unique dynamics involved with the financial structure of a college that is part of one of the leading academic medical centers in the country. This position will focus on developing automated processes that leverage technology and increase efficiencies within the Controller’s Office of the College of Medicine. This will require in-depth knowledge of finance and accounting, as well as advanced technological skills utilizing Microsoft office and similar data management products. The incumbent will work directly with high-level individuals to complete thorough reviews of existing processes, recommend procedural changes and coordinate the implementation of system changes. This includes the production of college-wide data, analytics and modeling systems that will be used to make decisions that will impact the entire institution. Communication, analytical and project management skills are required. Strong knowledge of financial systems along with a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles are preferred; additionally, incumbent will be working directly with high level management making it imperative to clearly communicate and work alongside a team of professionals. Must have excellent written and oral communication competencies to be able to interpret and deliver what is requested as well as explain the newly developed processes. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
