The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, one of two premier properties owned and operated by The Pennsylvania State University under the Penn State Hospitality Services (PSHS) umbrella, with two restaurants, The Gardens Restaurant and Legends Pub. Candidate would oversee the daily operations of the two restaurants and room service. Responsible for coordinating the duties of the assistant managers, supervisors and line staff as well as communicating with the Executive Chef and culinary department to successfully conduct daily business functions, which include a strong focus on customer relations and team mentoring and development. Interview, hire, train, evaluate, monitor, motivate and schedule all staff and track performance. Develop and maintain relationships with guests and community representatives. Evaluate guest feedback and implement action plans for continual improvement. Coordinate with Marketing Director on promotions for both restaurants and develop in-house marketing strategies, including special events, holidays and no-conference bookings. Develop and implement budgets for all restaurant operations. Key operator for Micros point-of-sale system and Penn State University payroll and employee systems. Maintain weekly and monthly inventory and control of all alcohol products for the on-premise liquor license. Maintain targeted beverage costs, quality and service standards and uphold the liquor license guidelines dictated by the PLCB and supporting house policies. Attend operational meetings. Collaborate with other departments within the conference center to organize and implement events. The candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be energetic, outgoing and give top priority to complete customer satisfaction.
