The Ken Lee laboratory conducts research on the structure and function of ion channels and is developing a new research program on understanding the mechanisms of pain pathobiology using cryo-EM approaches. A research technologist is being recruiting to perform lab ordering, lab organization and to provide research support to postdocs and students in the lab. The person hired will undertake routine approaches in plasmid construction and isolation, protein expression and purification, biochemical assays, maintenance and transduction of bacterial, yeast, insect and mammalian cell lines in cell culture. The research technologist will receive training in standard techniques in molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with the possibility of re-funding.
