Description

Develop and maintain an environment where customer service is the top priority. Respond to guest requests, inquiries, solve guest problems, communicate information to guests, and train employees to provide high level of customer service. Assist in the research and development of new concepts, products, menus, recipes, packaging, marketing, pricing and presentation of product/concept. Hire, train, coach and supervise technical service, student and part-time employees. Solve problems, evaluate job performance and take disciplinary action when necessary. Responsible for financial success through proper forecasting, ordering, inventory control, waste management, labor cost controls, proper cash handling procedures and monitoring of utilities. Ensure food safety at all times in each operation; follow HACCP guidelines and correct when non-compliant; accommodate special dietary requirements; ensure sanitation measures are being met. Oversee the maintenance of facilities and care of equipment. Assist with research and purchasing of equipment and supplies. Establish procedures for use in retail operations. Evaluate and standardize recipes, menus, product mix, pricing, packaging, appearance, hours of operation, promotions, and customer service. Participate on department and university committees. Follow through on department information and initiatives. Oversee/coordinate/organize unit specific, department or university-wide projects or assignments. Plan, organize and supervise special events, catering functions and special requests. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in a hospitality, business or a nutrition related discipline or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
