This is a position with the Kamal laboratory in the Center of Orthopedic Research and Translational Science at the Department of Orthopedics, Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA. The job consists of responsibilities in maintaining mouse colonies (genotyping and breeding), laboratory work using complex genetic mouse models and primary cell culture systems to understand the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis disease development and progression. This position requires experience with basic small animal handling, surgeries, and dissection, basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, western blotting), basic cell culture skills, and basic histology and immunohistochemistry skills. Must be able to problem-solve in an effective and efficient manner in a lab setting. Should be able to take responsibilities in equipment maintenance and user training with limited supervision of lower level staff, wage employees and/or students. Must work well in a team environment. Will interact with all levels of staff in a multicultural environment. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with an excellent possibility of refunding.
