Description

The Building a Strong Identity and Coping Skills (BaSICS) Project at The Pennsylvania State University is recruiting candidates for a clinical research assessor position. Staff on this project will be involved in assessing the efficacy of a coping skills program through completion of questionnaires, activities, and data collection with 11 and 12-year-old children. This position is part time and seasonal (3-20 hours per week, during assessment times, varies based on participants` schedules and project timeline); shifts take place 3:45 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday in Steelton, PA and Harrisburg, PA. Staff are required to work 3 or 4 days per week. Staff will serve as (1) Confederates, who are required to act as a judge on a social stress test and (2) Assessors, who are responsible for conducting clinical interviews, setting up data collection devices (video cameras, sensors), administering surveys, collecting saliva samples, completing a guided relaxation activity, and carrying out a detailed protocol. Thorough training will be provided for all employees. Assessments take place daily, however, there are some 2-3 week breaks sporadically, and larger breaks in the summer, December, and January. This position is ideal for candidates who are looking for paid research experience and/or supplemental income. The position would be especially beneficial for college students, graduate students, or recent graduates who are looking for relevant experience in clinical psychology, developmental psychology, psychological assessment, or psychological and biological research. Due to frequent participant cancellations, the ideal candidate will be flexible, communicative, and ready to take initiative. Candidates should be responsible, dedicated, highly motivated, and have the ability to follow a strict protocol. Please contact Holly Figueroa (hkf5102@psu.edu) for more details.
