Primary responsibilities include ensuring that orientation groups move through their workshops in a timely manner, providing general assistance with the college transition by sharing information on adjusting to college expectations and demands, balancing college with work and family commitments, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, personal responsibility. Orientation leaders respond in a professional manner to questions from students and families about university life using personal experiences, and encourage students to establish meaningful connections with other first-year students. New Student Orientation Leaders actively engage with students and families who attend NSO while providing a welcoming environment for all new Penn Staters. Interested applicants must be current full-time Penn State undergraduate students, will have obtained at least 24 credits by the end of the spring 2019 semester, and maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA.
