The Office of Multicultural Programs is looking for a Male Resident Assistant/Counselor (RC) to work with the Summer College Opportunity Program in Education (S.C.O.P.E.) from June 23 through July 19, 2019. S.C.O.P.E. is a four week academic intensive program for rising high school juniors from multicultural backgrounds interested in careers in the field of education. The position is a "live-in" position and involves supervising S.C.O.P.E. students in the residence halls, study hours, and at S.C.O.P.E. activities, enforcing all program and residence life rules, and being a supportive role model engaged in providing daily life and academic skills guidance. Resident Vounselors report to the Assistant Dean and the Multicultural Coordinator who are the Co-Directors for the summer program. Applicants should possess proven ability to supervise, engage, motivate and inspire students; sensitivity to students of diverse backgrounds; commitment to community service, educational equity and social justice; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks, be flexible and work as part of a team; excellent work ethic with strong problem-solving abilities; First Aid/CPR certification (successful candidates will be required to obtain these certifications if they do not possess current certifications). Preference will be given to undergraduate (juniors and seniors) and graduate students enrolled in the College of Education at Penn State, and candidates who have children/youth programs work or volunteer experience.
