The Summer College Opportunity Program in Education (S.C.O.P.E.) invites applications for a SAT Prep instructor position. SAT Prep instructors will be responsible for planning and leading hour-long SAT Prep classes in the subject area of Math and Critical Writing for high school. Candidate should be familiarized with standardized testing in general and SAT test in particular. Experience teaching SAT test strategies and content to high school students is preferred. Applicants should possess a four-year degree; minimum of one or two years of teaching experience; ability to evaluate and document student progress; proven ability to supervise, engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks, be flexible and work as part of a team; excellent work ethic with strong problem-solving abilities; effective organizational skills and be comfortable using computers and instructional technology. Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching SAT test strategies and content to high school students; knowledge and prior use of College Board`s SAT Study Guide book; college teaching experience; applicants who are graduate students enrolled in the College of Education at Penn State University; have previous experience working with diverse learners and similar summer bridge programs. This position is a Fixed-Term 2 appointment for the 4 week summer program duration. Applicants should be expected to commit to 10-15 hours of work per week (1-hour per day classroom instruction and up to 10 hours of class preparation and instructional support).
