Description

Qualifications: Strong GPA in college coursework (3.0 or better); Second semester student or later; Excellent communication skills; Flexibility with regard to work environment; Openness to training and skills development; Ability to work with students one-on-one and in small groups; Ability to work with faculty/staff in collaboration; Ability to follow directives; Availability to work at least 5 hours per week during academic year; Availability to attend approximately 10 hours of training per semester. Responsibilities: Provide academic support to all students during assigned hours; Perform front desk activities, including scheduling, record-keeping, and tutoring coordination; Develop a full working knowledge of academic skills development materials and strategies; Participate in outreach activities (e.g. presenting information regarding study skills and academic support) on behalf of the Tutoring Center; Represent Penn State DuBois and support students using Tutoring Center services through courteous, professional behavior; Other duties as assigned. Learning Outcomes: Identify and support the mission of the CUE; Increase leadership abilities; Demonstrate the ability to work with diverse groups of people; Improve problem-solving skills through improved subject knowledge; Improve communication skills; Develop strategies to improve student self-sufficiency; Improve general learning skills.
