Description

The Smeal College of Business seeks to hire a Communications Support Instructor to assist with graduate-level business communication courses (including MBA, MAcc, and other professional master’s degrees). The successful candidate will possess subject matter expertise that adds value to the teaching/learning experience and help to engage students in the classroom. Qualified candidates must hold a Master’s degree (Ph.D. or ABD preferred) and relevant expertise from work/industry experience and/or graduate level coursework in business communication. Duties include, but are not limited to, development of group/team assignments, grading, moderating discussion forums, facilitating class sessions, and providing student feedback on assignments/activities. In addition to supporting students, the position will assist lead instructors with course administration. The preferred candidate will display professional expertise in business communication and have experience coaching individuals and small groups to enhance communication skills. Specifically, the candidate will have experience in the areas of business presentations, business writing, and use of presentation software (i.e., PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.). Additionally, the preferred candidate will possess strong organizational and administrative abilities to manage course administration and data input and tracking for approximately 300 students. The position will work in Smeal College of Business located at Penn State’s University Park campus. Compensation is contingent on experience and academic credentials, and training and development is provided.
