Description

The Acoustics Division of the Applied Research Laboratory is seeking a graduate student to assist in a variety of tasks. These tasks may include: calibration of transducers and sensors, assembly of components, sealing of electrical components, and some mechanical assembly. Tasks may develop into programming, including curve fitting and data entry. Candidates must be currently enrolled in the Penn State Graduate School. Students pursuing a degree in Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering will be given preference. A background in acoustics and acoustic sensors as well as completion of a graduate level course in acoustic transducers are required. The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours/week over the summer. Successful candidates typically have an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or above during their junior and senior years. Candidate selected may be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
