This internship is a planning and administration position for public programs organized by the Palmer’s education department. The primary focus will be to organize and run a series of public programs for a variety of audiences including gallery talks, family days, tours, after hours events, etc. A thematic focus on photography will run through all of these programs, so experience and knowledge with diverse photographic processes is preferred. Specific duties of this position will include: researching art and artists related to Palmer exhibitions; developing exhibition-related activities for museum audiences; organizing program requirements such as art supplies and volunteers; and coordinating communication and marketing efforts for programs. This position may also participate as needed with research and planning for future public programs. This internship is made possible by the James E. Hess and Suzanne Scurfield Hess Endowment for Art Education. The Palmer Museum of Art is able to offer paid internships during the summer semester for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students. Summer interns are required to work 20 hours per week at the museum for six weeks (exact dates can be flexible between June 1- Aug 9).
