Description

The Wear-IT project is looking for a talented, self-motivated Applications Programmer to help implement the Wear-IT Framework. Wear-IT is a framework for collecting data from smartphones and wearable technology and analyzing it in real time. The Wear-IT project seeks to bridge the gap between University research on stress, emotion, craving, and well-being and real-world problems such as addiction recovery and autism spectrum disorders. The Applications Programmer will support various research projects by designing, developing, and maintaining web-based and mobile software. Responsibilities include working in conjunction with the programming team to design web-based and mobile software based on requirements gathered from stakeholders, provide specialized support and training for existing applications, and consult with stakeholders to recommend hardware and software solutions based on the framework. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the following technologies is preferred: LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) and related development tools, PHP frameworks such as Laravel, experience with MySQL or similar relational databases, and Javascript. Experience developing mobile applications using Java is highly desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work independently with little guidance, on specialized projects, providing examples from past work experience if possible. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, initiative to seek creative solutions to problems, readily adapt to learning new systems and methodologies, and have a strong commitment to and record of successfully meeting goals and deadlines. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
