Penn State University Libraries, Commons/Lending Services, Pattee Library seeks candidates for two supervisors in Lending and Reserves Services (Information Resources and Services Supervisor/Manager 2). The Commons Services desk in the Tombros and McWhirter Knowledge Commons, Pattee Library, is a fast-paced service area responsible for borrower account services, materials checkout, course reserves, and equipment (including laptops and iPads) loan over a 24-hour service schedule. Back-room processes include incoming mail processing, materials sorting and routing, and retrieving and re-shelving materials. This position will work as part of a supervisory team responsible for hiring, scheduling, payroll and performance reviews for part-time staff, and will provide front-line leadership with a strong emphasis on quality customer service in a dynamic and continually changing environment. During evening and weekend hours, this position will also provide leadership for facility and safety issues within the Pattee and Paterno Library complex. The successful applicant will be user-focused with a demonstrated commitment to creating a positive user experience, promoting a respectful and collaborative workplace, creative problem-solving and continual service and process improvement. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is respect for a broadly diverse, multicultural environment. The schedule for these positions will be Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday, 3:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m., subject to change during semester and summer breaks. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
