The Office of Physical Plant is seeking a Labor Project/Event Planner to be a positive asset to the Maintenance Planning and Scheduling team. This individual will be responsible for planning new events, projects, and central support labor needs and other similar work activities using Maximo as the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Planning activities will focus on the general labor trades and requires mastery of technical knowledge in general laborer activities, including rigging and movement of equipment and materials, equipment and tools related to rigging and transport, safety procedures and protocols related to rigging and transport, and event logistics. The Facilities and Maintenance Project/Event Planner will perform maintenance project requests including, but not limited to: initial job screening, evaluating customer requirements, creating detailed work plans, assembled planned job packages, labor deployment by craft and skill, generation of itemized bills of material, and facilitate and acquisition plan. Planners will scope and prepare estimates, process purchase requests, initiate required permits, provide prints, sketches, photos, special procedures, specifications, and other technical references. This position will provide project and work order specifications for either internal and external labor resources, depending on the scope of work. This position will work with colleagues throughout the Penn State organization, including Building Services, Project Management, Grounds Services, Custodial Management, Housing and Foods, Intercollegiate Athletics, Auxiliary Business Services and alike. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators preferred. 30 hour OSHA certification preferred. Strong computer skills are essential. Prior experience with a CMMS is preferred. Excellent communication and collaborative work skills required. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job responsibilities. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
