The Materials Science and Engineering department is seeking a creative individual with experience in a comprehensive range of print and digital media abilities, and experience in maintaining the web and social media presence along with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Primary responsibilities include development of print and digital marketing materials and content creation for press releases, newsletters, website pages, and social media. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a marketing strategy, analyzing the results of marketing and communications efforts and using them to improve future strategy. Responsibilities for this position will also include assisting the efforts with social media concepts and ideas to generate followers and activity while promoting events, managing social media accounts and website. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3 depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. The Marketing Communications Specialist should have strong writing/editing skills and know how to write press releases, marketing copy, web copy, and social media content. Proficiency with CSS, HTML, and Drupal preferred. Competencies and skills desired include: comprehensive range of print and digital media experience; creative problem-solving skills; skill at translating abstract concepts to visual form; branding and identity development; illustration; photography; image and photo editing. Excellent organizational and strong interpersonal skills are essential. Candidate should be prepared to provide writing samples and examples of previous work. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
