Description

The Institute for CyberScience (ICS) is seeking a leader to join our team support the ICS Advanced CyberInfrastructure (ICS-ACI). This position will be an integral contributor to ICS by leading our ICS-ACI Solutions and Knowledge (i-ASK) Center. Our fast paced and growing team is supported by an exciting $60 million Penn State investment in research cyberinfrastructure. Penn State’s elite researchers use our high-performance research cloud (HPRC) to solve real-world problems by conducting simulations, data mining, and other high-performance computing operations. With ICS, you will have the opportunity to support this ground breaking work. As the Lead of our i-ASK Center you will: lead a team of ICS staff and students to provide technical expertise to university constituents in assisting them in resolving their research related issues; research and document client needs and engineer and develop solutions that meet or exceed those needs; design and develop tools, resources, and training to increase client knowledge and usage of ICS-ACI infrastructure; recruit, develop, and evaluate i-ASK center staff; determine metrics, measure performance, provide reports, and develop and implement recommendations for improvements for ICS-ACI and client needs. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A successful candidate will have a strong background in an IT service related role that shows an ability to understand and resolve client issues. Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Experience in and/or management of IT help desk centers is a plus. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
