We provide solutions and platforms on which the Penn State community can do great things. We’re here to enable. We’re here to support. We’re here to innovate. Our division is entering a time of transformative change. We’re shifting from an organization that often leads with technology, to one that leads by understanding and meeting our customers’ needs. We desire to be a trusted and admired partner of Penn State IT and across the University. We need a leader to help us achieve these goals. The Director of Application Infrastructure oversees the delivery and operation of application infrastructure such as databases, application servers, development frameworks, middleware, batch scheduling, mainframe services and other technologies. The Application Infrastructure team closely partners with other teams to help them design, build and operate applications that serve the University community. The selected candidate will be responsible to make sure our infrastructure is delivered at national-caliber service levels. He/she will collaborate across diverse groups to ensure projects and services are aligned with University goals and requirements. He/she will facilitate the development of strategic and tactical plans, to ensure investment, services and operations meet the needs of the University now and in the future. He/she will manage millions of dollars of operational and project budgets and will act with unimpeachable integrity to ensure these resources are appropriately and effectively used. The selected candidate will partner closely with IT leaders inside and outside of the Enterprise IT organization to make sure strategy, tactics and services are highly aligned. He/she will build a culture where staff are empowered, where customers come first and where the team continuously improves the quality of its services and the breadth and depth of its capabilities. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
