Description

The Center for Survey Research at Penn State Harrisburg invites applications for part-time Research Assistant positions to help carry out an NIH-funded study of everyday stress and health behaviors. Responsibilities will include: Completing all training and certification to demonstrate initial and ongoing competency of study tasks and processes. Recruitment of participants (e.g., hanging flyers in the local community). Fielding phone calls and emails from potential participants. Screening and scheduling participants for in-person visits. Preparing devices and equipment for use. Leading in-person training sessions on use of mobile devices and activity monitors for participants. Troubleshooting and reporting device and software issues as they arise. Downloading data from health tracking devices onto a computer. Cleaning, maintaining, and tracking health monitoring devices. Participation in scheduled team meetings as needed (infrequent). Typically requires a Bachelor`s degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some experience using computer software (e.g., Word, Excel), smartphones, and other wearable devices (e.g., FitBit) would be preferred but not necessary. This position requires attention to detail and strong organizational and interpersonal skills. All Research Assistants will have extensive training on all study protocols and support from study team members, and will receive ongoing support and evaluation of their skills and competencies for the duration of the study. Candidates must have access to reliable transportation, as travel to Harrisburg or other local areas for recruiting will be required. Additionally, travel to the University Park campus will be infrequently required. This position is scheduled to begin no later than February 15, 2019, although flexibility on this date is possible. Research Assistants must be flexible to work day, evening, and weekend hours to staff a variety of project training sessions. Work hours will range from 5-15/week.
