Campus Recreation, a department within Student Affairs, is seeking a Lead Boating Attendant for Stone Valley Recreation Area. Stone Valley Recreation Area is 17 miles from the University Park Campus, nestled within the 7,000-acre Stone Valley Forest. Additional positions available at Stone Valley Recreation Area include Boating Attendants, Customer Service Representatives, Facility Attendants, Facility Supervisors, and Grounds/Maintenance Workers. Lead Boating Attendants are individuals who manage a small team of staff to provide boating services to our patrons. In addition to performing the tasks of Boating Attendants, Lead Boating Attendants are responsible for assisting with the training and supervision of Boating Attendants and managing boating operations when professional staff are unavailable. Lead Boating Attendants ensure that all policies and procedures are followed to effectively manage risk; Take the lead role in conducting water rescue operations; Act as the weather watcher throughout their shift; Inspect all boating equipment and report issues to the boating coordinator. Ability to act as the lead customer service representative when needed to manage boat rental processing and general customer service. CPR/First Aid/AED certification required or ability to obtain within one month of hire. Classes are offered through Campus Recreation on a regular basis. Pennsylvania Boating Safety Education Certificate or equivalent preferred. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation and have access to a reliable form of transportation. Positions are mostly seasonal in nature with the primary hours available between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day Weekend. Applicants must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
