Description

The Registered Dietitian Specialist position is responsible for assisting with all nutrition-related initiatives within Auxiliary and Business Services. Under the supervision of the Corporate Registered Dietitian, this position will provide support for a broad spectrum of Penn State food service operations, menus and products throughout a mixture of all-you-care-to-eat dining, banquet and catering operations, retail and quick service facilities, bakery and warehousing operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting recipe and menu development through nutritional analysis, food allergen management, and menu labeling efforts. The position will also engage in regular communication with prospective and current students and guests regarding available dining accommodations for diverse dietary restrictions and nutritional needs and will liaise with dining services management teams. The position will also serve to enhance all nutrition education and wellness programming efforts for Penn State residential dining facilities and will facilitate collaboration with other campus departments to develop initiatives aimed at improving health and wellness of students and guests. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, foster positive and collaborative working environment with a diverse group of staff, student employees and guests, and demonstrate ability to function independently to represent all goals and initiatives of the Registered Dietitian Office. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in institutional or volume food service preferred. Must be proficient in medical and lifestyle dietary needs such as food allergies/intolerances, celiac disease, vegetarianism and religious or cultural food practices. Must be ServSafe certified. Registered Dietitian as credentialed through the Commission on Dietetic Registration required. Registered dietitian-eligible with an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
