Orientation Leaders play a key role in providing a quality transitional experience for all incoming first-year students through the New Student Orientation (NSO) program. Orientation Leaders assist incoming and family members by providing an introduction to the campus and its resources, leading conversations about the transition from high school to college and acting as a representative of The Pennsylvania State University. Orientation Leaders must work cooperatively within a team of fellow student leaders to accomplish tasks, respond to questions from students and families about university life using personal experiences in a professional manner, and encourage students to establish meaningful connections with other first-year students. Orientation Leaders must be able to be flexible and patient, as NSO is a demanding and fast-paced working environment. Leaders are expected to actively engage with students and families while providing a welcoming environment for all new Penn Staters. Interested applicants must be current full-time Penn State undergraduate students in spring 2019 who plan to be enrolled at Penn State in fall 2019. Suggested CGPA: 2.8 or higher. Successful candidates will enroll in a one-credit leadership course during spring 2019 semester and obtain a B or higher in that course to continue employment.
