Description

Penn State Abington is recruiting a full-time Administrative Support Assistant to provide support to several units on campus representative of The Office of Global Programs. These offices include: The Center for Intercultural Leadership and Communication, Human Resources, and Academic Affairs. This is an ideal entry level position for someone who wants to develop professionally with the growing office of international student and scholar services and education abroad at Penn State Abington. Typical duties include interfacing with a variety of internal and external constituents; providing administrative support in the areas of programming, budgeting, student appointment scheduling; processing international faculty/staff appointments and providing support for related visa and permanent residency administration; providing ad hoc administrative support for other academic affairs areas. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree and additional years of related work experience preferred. Bilingual or multilingual capabilities preferred. Intercultural communication skills are essential to be able to engage with international students from around the world and study abroad applicants planning to travel abroad. An understanding of differing English language proficiency levels and communication with multilingual students is essential in this front line position. Experience with technology such as Microsoft Office is essential (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) There is an expectation that applicants will learn internal PSU systems to support data collection needs and financial reporting. Prior experience working in an institution of higher education is preferred. The successful candidate will have intercultural communication skills, attention to detail, and experience working with budgets and contracts. This position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with good possibility of re-funding. http://abington.psu.edu/
