The Penn State Alumni Association is seeking an Executive Director of Marketing and Communications to provide leadership and strategic oversight for its marketing, communications, branding, publications, and public relations activities. This position reports to the CEO of the Penn State Alumni Association and will also serve as a key adviser to Alumni Association leadership when crisis communications or public relations issues arise. The Executive Director is responsible for the creation, implementation, and oversight of the Alumni Association’s long- and short-range marketing and communications plan. This position will lead and direct a team of 13 professionals responsible for content development, design, production, and dissemination of the Alumni Association's print and digital materials, which include newsletters, event invitations, news releases, development materials, social media, advertisements, and video. This position will have the leading role in determining how the Alumni Association will communicate and position itself to internal and external audiences. The Executive Director will also oversee the content and functionality of the Alumni Association's web and social media sites. This position also provides leadership and serves as a staff liaison to a committee of the Alumni Council. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in marketing in a higher education and/or industry setting preferred. The Pennsylvania State University is committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of its forms. The Executive Director of Marketing and Communications must have an ability to understand how to use traditional forms of communication (i.e. print material) and new media techniques to promote the Alumni Association to a wide and diverse audience. Qualified candidates must possess a superior understanding of technology, strong communication and writing skills, strong relationship-building skills, and will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
