Penn State Wilkes-Barre is seeking an experienced, collaborative, forward-thinking communications and marketing professional. Reporting to the Chancellor, this multi-faceted position will promote campuses programs, raise community awareness of campus degrees and student life programming, and support recruitment and retention efforts. The successful candidate will be expected to work proactively and supportively in a small, team-oriented environment to develop, plan, and implement a variety of strategic integrated marketing and communications initiatives on time and within budget. The candidate will be responsible for producing polished feature articles, news releases, marketing, social, and multimedia content; coordinating and marketing the campuses events, and other public relations and marketing projects through a variety of media channels; and selecting and activating relevant media channels for dissemination. All applicants are asked to upload two or more suitable writing samples of previous work, especially those highly suitable for contemporary student and faculty audiences; examples of digital photography, Adobe design work, and/or links to videography also are welcome. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of and proficient use of Microsoft Office 365, content management software, Adobe CS Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and publication layout skills are strongly preferred. Demonstrated competencies in photography and videography are preferred but not required. The ideal candidate also will demonstrate success in following University policies and best practices, adhering to the highest professional standards, and demonstrating good judgment in a fast-paced work environment. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, a dedication to quality and standards of consultative customer service, and a strong commitment to diversity, equity, respect and inclusion are required. This position requires a self-starter who is able to work independently as well as with a team and within guidelines, who gathers energy from being part of an innovative and dynamic group, and who has the ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects from start to finish. This is a Fixed Term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.
