Description

The Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI) at Penn State has an opening for an Education Program Assistant in the Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium (PSGC) Office to contribute to the advancement of research, educational programming, and service to the University. The portfolio of programs from around Pennsylvania requires significant program coordination. Additionally, the position is expected to develop and maintain dynamic online surveys that align with NASA's goals and objectives and to manipulate the resulting data to communicate effectively in a range of formats, including spreadsheets, reports, and presentations to fulfill PSGC's post-award reporting obligation; to develop and maintain online funding application portals for competitive fellowships, scholarships, internships, and mini grants for higher education support of STEM education and NASA-related research infrastructure development while maintaining the confidentiality of student records; to engage in decision-making and problem-solving through ongoing involvement with program-wide leadership; to assist program/project teams with the development and implementation of new and present programs for in-service K-12 educators, higher education, and the general public; to develop, manage, and maintain stakeholder databases for the PSGC; to manage online/digital/social media communication, assuring that information is accurate, current, and relevant while promoting a culture that is focused on ethics and compliance and is conducive to effective relationships among diverse team members; and to assist with the planning and coordination of advisory board committee meetings, educational and public outreach events, state-wide and regional conferences, and other activities. We will begin interviewing for this position in early February 2019. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
