Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a Marketing Communications Specialist to be involved in a variety of facets of Penn State's broad-based and highly successful 31-sport varsity athletic programs. Among the responsibilities are: working with the Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Services and Brand Management as well as the Creative Services staff to develop, maintain and advance the athletic department brand identity through original and creative design concepts, producing original and creative designs for a variety of print, social media, and web-based materials including: social media graphics, posters, game programs, signage and large-scale facility graphics, media guides, advertising, tickets and ticket brochures, maps, website and e-mail graphics, logos and varied promotional materials as needed as well as creative input for Assist the design needs of department units, including the Nittany Lion Club, Strategic Communications, Marketing, Sports Camps, Compliance, etc. Expedite, organize and track a large and varying workflow involving multiple deadlines and both external and internal clients. Archive and organize files, projects and art and fulfill requests. Assist in editing and maintenance of the athletics photography archive and creative organization of photo shoots. Requires some night and weekend work, including the possibility of working home football games. Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and After Effects are preferred. Experience with additional Adobe Applications is a plus. Previous experience in preparing documents for the print process and strong written, editing and verbal communication skills and the ability to supervise student and part-time staff preferred. This position reports to the Senior Graphic Designer. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
