Description

Plant, transplant, weed, spray, prune, and cultivate trees, grass, shrubbery, etc. Apply herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers. Fertilize, mow, and seed lawns as required. Assist immediate supervisor in compiling daily work schedules. On a daily basis, work with and assist employees in proper landscape methods and procedures. Correct improper methods and procedures. Inspect all grounds, lawns, landscaped areas. Inspect all grounds, lawns, landscaped areas, and landscaping on a regular basis to ensure that they are maintained in a neat, clean and orderly condition. Report conditions and correct where necessary. Distribute materials, equipment and tools as necessary. Install all landscape areas on campus; plant and landscape materials; maintain job-progress records and prepare necessary reports. Interpret simple sketches and/or specifications. Operate front-end loader for earth moving and vehicle loading operations; perform minor repairs and adjustments. Operate trucks, tractors, power grounds equipment, power saws, chain saws, pneumatic hammers. Maintain athletic areas; mark fields. Remove snow and ice as directed; spread chemicals, sand, cinders and other anti-skid material on walks, roadway and parking areas. Assist with other services, i.e., preparation and setups for special events and clean up following the events. Report needed repairs on or about building or grounds to the supervisor. Operate University vehicle as required. Job Requirements: Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data. A Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator`s License Category 6 and 7 required. 9 to 12 months of effective experience. Shift: 7:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m. Days Off: Sunday, Monday NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE AS A PART OF YOUR JOB DUTIES. A VALID DRIVER`S LICENSE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO STANDARD BACKGROUND CHECKS.
