The Penn State Abington Learning Success Center is looking for a Professional English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutor. Reporting to the Learning Success Center Coordinator, this professional tutor will work with multilingual students with a focus international students at the Penn State Abington College, tutoring students who seek assistance with English language skill acquisition in reading, writing, speaking and listening/note taking. The ESL Tutor works with individuals and small groups of students focusing predominantly on academic writing for students’ coursework. Additionally, this tutor may also work on other skill areas such as students’ speaking development and may conduct language skill workshops on pertinent topics. Bachelor’s degree or higher is required plus two years related experience working with ESL populations and knowledge of current ESL pedagogy and trends. The ideal/preferred candidate will have completed ESL or TESOL related coursework and will have prior teaching and/or tutoring experience with ESL populations. Working hours will be 20 hours per week and to be established upon hire, but are expected to fall within the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
