Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, a Division I and Big Ten Conference Institution, is seeking an Assistant Performance Enhancement Coach. This position will report directly to the Director of Performance Enhancement. This position will assist the performance enhancement efforts for the football program and other varsity sports as assigned within Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics. This position will aid in the management and supervision of all intern strength coaches with the football program, support in the development of comprehensive training programs that are available to all student athletes, promote the development and implementation of flexibility training modalities that are physiologically based and that provide the flexibility training to properly prepare the athlete, assist in the compilation and display of performance enhancement testing records. Additionally, the successful candidate will be available on an as needed basis at all football staff meetings and be prepared to discuss all pertinent issues as it pertains to the performance enhancement aspect of the football program, assist in the organization and implementation of an annual strength and conditioning clinic, develop and maintain a state of the art performance enhancement development website, directly coordinate the nutritional educational program with the team nutritionist, mentor football student-athletes in the highest moral, value, and ethical standards that are consistent with the reputation of Penn State and design and implement all movement specific training to accurately simulate the physical requirements of their respective positions. Lastly, ensure compliance with University, NCAA and Big Ten rules; perform other duties as may be required by the Athletic Director. This job will be filled as a level 2, level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Ideal candidates should demonstrate an ability to foster team competitive success while maintaining a strong emphasis on the personal development and academic achievement of student-athletes; excellent communication skills to work with athletes, coaches on staff, and administrators. Candidate should have the ability to understand and apply complex rules and regulations and understand the impacts to various processes as a result of those rules. A strong working knowledge and ability to apply NCAA, Big Ten and Penn State compliance rules is desired. Related experience at a Division I school preferred. Strong knowledge of NCAA, Big Ten rules desired. Duties include job responsibilities associated with a Level 4 of Coordinator of Strength Training. Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning will have supervisory oversight of the Varsity Strength Trainers. This job will be filled as a level 2, level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
