Operate ice resurfacing and maintenance equipment, and front-end loader. Prepare ice rinks for classes, skating sessions and other activities by resurfacing the skating rink, cutting and painting, marking and designing, trimming and edging ice, etc. Resurface the main skating rink to include cutting, laying ice and drying to the standards required within fifteen minutes. Perform dasher board system maintenance repair to include adjustment, alignment, replacement of fixtures, railing, backing, plates, framing and plexiglass. Perform preventive maintenance and minor repair to ice resurfacing and maintenance equipment to include lubrication, oil change, filter hose and belt replacement, minor tune ups, etc. Check batteries, brakes, fluid levels, etc., for proper operation. Operate hand held power tools such as circular saw, drills, impact screwdrivers, chisels, files, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc., in the performance of duties. Sharpen skates using a dual head grinder. Perform minor building and equipment maintenance and support for the Ice Arena such as sealing floors, repairing netting, rolling astroturf carpet, moving goal frames, locker adjustments, etc. Perform counter duties to include greeting patrons, answering telephone, assigning lockers and operating cash register to record the collection of admissions fees and rental charges. Open, close and assist in monitoring the security of the Ice Arena. Assist in assuring that only authorized people have access to the skating rinks. Check gauges, take readings and monitor trouble lights on compressors. Make standard adjustments to settings appropriate to rink use. Report problems to supervisor or the Office of Physical Plant for repairs. Operate University vehicle to deliver or pick up supplies and materials. Prepare packages for mailing. Make regular preventive maintenance checks to equipment and facilities using an established checklist. Provide first aid as required to injured patrons and contact emergency medical personnel for evacuation to a treatment facility. Report all accidents to the supervisor or appropriate personnel. Complete accident reporting form. Erect, disassemble and use rink scaffolding for replacing gels, adjusting netting, hanging banners, changing scoreboard, etc. Set up items and materials for special events. Issue and collect receipts for rink access and rental equipment. Maintain a working knowledge of ice rink schedules, policies and procedures relating to the use and operation of the facility. Promote Ice Arena safety by adhering to and ensuring compliance of established rink policies and procedures. Monitor vending machine use and report problems to the supervisor. Collect information concerning the number of facility users, types of patrons, etc., as necessary. Inventory equipment, maintain control cards and maintenance records. Prepare log fires, as required. Responsible for the routine daily operations of the ice rink in the absence of a supervisor. Direct the work and train part-time employees. Job Requirements: Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data. Over 1 year up to and including 2 years of effective experience. Shift: Various Days Off: Various NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE AS A PART OF YOUR JOB DUTIES. A VALID DRIVER`S LICENSE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO STANDARD BACKGROUND CHECKS.
