Description

Penn State Brandywine, located in Media, PA, seeks a professional counselor for its Student Affairs Department. Duties are as follows: Provide individual therapy, group therapy, case management, and crisis intervention to students within the university community to address psychological and mental health concerns, to help them develop emotionally and socially, and to support their academic success. Provide consultation to faculty, staff, and parents concerning students' developmental and mental health concerns and assist them in making appropriate referrals. Learn and maintain the electronic medical records system. Additional duties include planning, implementing, and assessing wellness programs related to topics which impact student mental health and broader health topics such as sexual violence, substance use and abuse, etc. Provide supervision to graduate assistants, interns, wage payroll employees, and/or students. As a member of the Student Affairs team, the campus counselor participates in and attends departmental and campus-wide events (i.e., recruitment activities, commencements, awards receptions, orientations, cultural and social events, etc.). Serve as a member of the Behavioral Threat Management Team, Commission on Substance Abuse Prevention, and Brandywine CARE Team. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in Social Work or related discipline or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed or license eligible Social Worker, LMFT, LPC or equivalent required.
