Description

The College of Engineering Advising Center is an innovative, knowledgeable, and collaborative team that fosters networks of resources, guidance, and direction to students. We are seeking an innovative and collaborative individual to join our team in providing academic advising to pre-major engineering students. This individual will advise students about academic programs; assess other needs and make professional referrals; maintain and ensure confidentiality of student records; guide students in course selection and scheduling; resolve academic problems escalating unusual matters; and identify and monitor academic progress. This individual will participate in various college programs such as New Student Orientation, Accepted Student Programs, Spend A Summer Day, Major Nights, and group advising presentations. Application reviews will start on January 18, 2019 and the position will remain open until filled. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires interaction with students, parents, faculty, and various college staff members. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to work with students in a high-volume center are necessities for success in this position. Experience and comfort with group presentations is desirable. The successful candidate will also possess an interest and a commitment to serving diverse student populations. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
