Description

The Chemistry Department, in the Eberly College of Science, is seeking to hire a Financial Assistant 4 to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily administration and monitoring of the 11+ operating, research, and facility budgets totaling over $15 million for the Department of Chemistry to include the general, restricted, and endowed budgets. Assist staff assistants with proper accounting procedures for over 105 research budgets within the department. Serve as primary liaison for department to the Eberly College of Science (ECoS) Finance Office and Penn State Purchasing Department. Establish allotment for undergraduate and facility budget operations. Coordinate processing of endowments and gifts with Development Office. Approve IBIS, ERS, and eBuy+ invoices. Receive and process all monies outside of normal reimbursements of faculty and grad student travel. Assist staff and faculty with budget problems and conflicts. Advise Department Head and others on budget procedures. Establish yearly facility rates with facility directors. Compile routine budget reports for accounting operations of the department. Perform fiscal year ending closing procedures. Implement new budget procedures/programs with staff. Perform internal audits and assist ECoS Finance Office with annual audit of department. Hours will be 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday. Financial/accounting experience and excellent communication skills are required. Experience with IBIS, ERS, and eBuy+ strongly preferred. Must be able to work independently, take initiative, and use discretion in all matters. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
