The College of Health and Human Development is seeking a talented and energetic Marketing Communications Specialist. The purpose of the Marketing Communications Specialist is to support the communicative needs of the Department of Human Development and Families Studies, as well as assigned projects within the College of Health and Human Development Office of Communications and Marketing. 60% of the time will be embedded in and dedicated to supporting the variety of communications needs of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. The individual will also be a team member contributing to a variety of communications and marketing projects and initiatives in the College of Health and Human Development Office of Communications and Marketing for the remaining 40% of time. Across both duties, the individual will be charged with: website content updates, optimization, and content development; social media communications and management; e-mail marketing; e-newsletters; brochures; feature articles; press releases; marketing materials; gathering images and multimedia; generating and executing communication strategies and techniques for connecting with targeted stakeholder groups (including students, faculty, sponsoring agencies/corporations, and alumni); coordinating communications and promotions for events; analyzing results of communications efforts and using them to improve future efforts; making recommendations for future marketing efforts; and overseeing marketing budgets for assigned units. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or similar is preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office the Adobe Creative Suite are preferred. Comfort level using content management software and/or knowledge of HTML/CSS for website updates preferred. The successful candidate will exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, attention to detail and a dedication to quality and customer service. Requires a self-starter who will be able to work independently with creative freedom as well as within guidelines, who gathers energy from being part of an innovative and dynamic group, and who has the ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects from start to finish. Strong project management, organizational and interpersonal skills required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
