Description

The Penn State College of Engineering is seeking a Multimedia Specialist to handle all intermediate aspects of the College’s multimedia communications – including oversight, coordination, and planning of photography; concept, design, creation, strategic and operational management, directing, scheduling, filming and post-production of video projects; as well as assisting with design projects as it relates to the communications efforts of the College and its departments. This position requires a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently, but also requires team-based collaboration on both departmental and College levels. The individual will be responsible for managing multiple projects from concept through creation with strategic and operational goals in mind. The Multimedia Specialist must be comfortable building relationships with team members, subjects, and College faculty and staff to ensure a strong message, including the ability to gain trust and put a person at ease in front of the camera, recognize the visual direction that will best highlight the College, and provide thoughtful and efficient direction on-site to keep a project on strategy. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills to ensure the brand message of the College comes through in all visual media. The successful candidate will have experience assessing communication needs and measuring results, understanding departmental and College messages to make decisions about what information to highlight; communicating ideas and providing direction to stakeholders and subjects involved in multimedia projects; communicating status of projects to supervisors and communications department peers and managing production of media content to ensure all parties are in sync. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This individual must have a strong technology background in Adobe Creative Suite, experience with DSLR cameras and related equipment, publication layout skills, as well as knowledge of emerging best practices for visual communications and multimedia equipment. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
