Housed within the College of Medicine (CoM) Office of the Vice Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, the Clinical and Translational Research Institute (CTSI) is hiring a Research Informatics Special Projects Manager to support collaborative research informatics initiatives by providing leadership and guidance related to data acquisition, use and project management between the various Penn State campuses, particularly Penn State University Park and Penn State Health/CoM. We seek an intentional, driven, collaborative, and self-motivated individual with a passion for creating substantive, interdisciplinary, and systemic change at the institution. Duties of the successful candidate include, but may not be limited to: building and conducting policy guidelines, gathering and analyzing data from various databases and sources, developing and presenting reports/summaries to a wide variety of audiences, providing a point of contact for principal investigators, monitoring project progress, milestones, success metrics, and reporting requirements, and serving as a point of contact for principal investigators interested in leveraging research informatics tools in their research proposals, the Penn State Institutional Review Boards (IRB), Penn State College of Medicine Research Affairs and the Penn State Office of Sponsored Programs. He/she would assist with enabling strategic research investment planning, institutionalize shared services across campuses, foster reuse, and help project teams to plan, design, and deliver standardized solutions that meet the current research informatics needs. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable of International Conference on Harmonisation Guideline for Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), research and data use agreements (DUAs) as well as working knowledge of electronic medical record systems. She/he will also be well versed in maintaining and utilizing databases as a means to effectively provide assistance to supported Institutions. The successful candidate will also be charged with interacting regularly with stakeholders and university affiliates while utilizing appropriate project management strategies for implementing requirements across a broad range of programs and initiatives. Of particular note, the successful candidate will be instrumental in the process of tracking, monitoring, and analyzing Key Performance Indicators and/or Common Metrics across research units and would work closely with the CTSI recruitment and retention specialist. Familiarity with clinical trials or informatics platforms such as i2b2 or TriNetX is desired and a working knowledge or experience in machine, deep learning and artificial intelligence in general is a plus. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Our ideal candidate will have a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and demonstrated experience managing complex programs. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.
