The Communications, Information and Navigation Office (CINO) at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is looking for motivated, talented, and self-driven Research and Development Engineers to join our Image Science and GIS Department which is part of the Cyber, Data and Image Sciences Division. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: independent research in Image, Data, and Geospatial Sciences; programming in multiple high order language including Python, Matlab, R, IDL; programming in one or more compiled languages (C++, Java); collaboration with team members; working in multiple technologies/disciplines to include machine learning, predictive analytics, data analysis, geospatial analysis, image science and computer vision. Experience with the following is required: programming in one or more higher order languages (Python, R, Matlab, IDL); programming in at least one complied language (C++, Java); prior work in multiple technologies and/or disciplines to include machine learning, predictive analytics, data analysis, geospatial analysis, image science, and computer vision. Experience with the following is preferred: machine learning and data science; subject matter expertise in one of the following: RDAR Imagery Exploitation, Activity Based Intelligence, Point Cloud Exploitation (LiDAR/EO Derived), Spectral Imagery Exploitation, and Geospatial Analytics. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Master’s degree in Image Science, Data Science, or Mathematics, Computer, or other Engineering is preferred. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply. Candidates selected will be subject to a government security investigation. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. This is a one-year fixed-term renewable appointment.
