We are seeking a part-time Research Assistant to help conduct a pilot study exploring the feasibility of using compact pedaling devices to increase physical activity in the workplace. In addition, the research assistant may assist with ongoing studies exploring the influence of the built and social environment on physical activity, nutrition, and health behavior change. The work will take place under the supervision of Dr. Liza Rovniak. The successful candidate will be responsible for many important aspects of the research including: screening potential participants for study eligibility criteria; scheduling study sessions; collecting and recording work performance and physical activity data; conducting interviews; assisting with IRB submissions; and assisting with data cleaning, statistical analyses, and manuscript preparation. Required skills: A Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in a field such as psychology, engineering, kinesiology, or public health; ability to communicate clearly and professionally with participants and research team members; strong organization and administrative skills and excellent attention to detail; and prior experience with data/file management (REDCap); word processing (MS Word); spreadsheets (Excel); and presentations (PowerPoint). Preferred skills: prior experience working with desk bikes; prior project coordination experience; experience conducting objective assessments and interviews; experience working with accelerometers; familiarity with basic statistical analysis and software (e.g., SPSS); experience with website design/management, and computer programming. This is a part-time position that will average approximately 10 to 20 hours per week. Funding for this position is available for approximately 6 months.
